Hi everyone! I'm just looking for some advice about getting started. I'm an 18yo going into my final year of high school and know I want to do real estate. I know it's a lot of work but I seriously think this it's the best job for me. I've always known I don't want to work 9-5 in an office sometime, I'd much rather make big money in real estate even if it takes a long time to get going and set up wealth for my future family. So with that I'm wondering if anyone has advice about where someone like me should start out. i do have the option of going to college and if I do i'll probably major in economics or business marketing. But i'm overal not sure if spending all the time/money to get a degree is worth it to me. any ideas of where else to start? thanks!Reply by Layla
In my opinion, you're doing the right thing by considering going to college. Investing in your education is going to give you somewhere to start making money and building your skills so that you can eventually make an investment career. As for your major, economics or any business field will serve you well, I'd also consider business communication. For now, focus on your education and READ! There are so many good resources on BiggerPockets. Read posts here as well and just get to know what's out there. Good on you for getting started early!

Hey there. I agree with the above poster's advice. Read everything, listen to everything, network with everyone. I'll add that you should start saving NOW - Work part time in college, invest in a 401(k), start putting aside money for these grand goals you have. That way you'll have something substantial in the bank once you've graduated, been working for a few years, and are feeling ready to invest.
