Permit delays killing my flip timeline

City permitting has taken almost eight weeks longer than expected on a kitchen bump-out, and I'm bleeding holding costs every week. Anyone found a way to speed up permit review, or is this just the cost of doing business right now?

I actually dealt with something similar last year, here's few things that actually moved the needle for me: calling the permit office directly instead of just checking the online portal (portals sit stale way longer than the actual review does sometimes), and asking if there's an expeditor or paid rush review option, a lot of cities have one they don't advertise well. It's also worth checking if your contractor or architect has a direct contact at the office, mine got status updates for me way faster than I ever did calling myself. Obviously this doesn't fix the wait entirely but at least gets you real information instead of guessing.
